Belize sits on the Caribbean coast of Central America and is one of the easiest tropical destinations for UK travellers to navigate: English is the official language, the currency is fixed to the US dollar and distances are short. Best time to fly to Belize
The dry season, from late November to mid-April, brings the most reliable sunshine, calm seas and excellent underwater visibility — it is also the busiest and most expensive time to fly. The green season (June to November) is hotter and more humid, with the Atlantic hurricane season most active in September and October. Main gateway cities & airports
Philip S. W. Goldson International Airport (BZE), just outside Belize City, is the country's only international airport and where every UK itinerary lands. From there, Tropic Air and Maya Island Air run short domestic hops to San Pedro on Ambergris Caye, Caye Caulker, Placencia, Dangriga and Punta Gorda. Belize City's small municipal airport handles mostly these internal flights.
Airlines and routes
No carrier flies direct between the UK and Belize, so the quickest routings use a single US connection. American Airlines serves Belize from Miami, Dallas and Charlotte, United from Houston and Newark, and Delta from Atlanta — each links with transatlantic partners such as British Airways, Virgin Atlantic and Aer Lingus from London and Manchester. Connecting via Cancun in Mexico is another option. Typical flight time from London is around nine hours to the US east coast plus a two to three hour onward leg; from Manchester you will usually connect through a US hub or via London. Any stop in the United States, even a short transit, requires an approved ESTA.

Travel essentials
UK passport holders do not need a visa for tourist visits and are normally granted up to 30 days on arrival; your passport should be valid for the duration of your stay. The currency is the Belize dollar (BZD), pegged at two to one against the US dollar, and US dollars are accepted almost everywhere.
