Bauerfield International Airport (VLI) in Port Vila, on the main island of Efate, handles almost all international arrivals and is where UK trips land. Santo-Pekoa International Airport (SON) at Luganville on Espiritu Santo serves some regional flights. Most travellers change planes in Brisbane, Sydney, Auckland or Nadi before the final leg to Port Vila.

Airlines and routes

No carrier flies the UK to Vanuatu nonstop. One of the smoothest options is Fiji Airways, which flies direct from London Gatwick to Nadi and then onward to Port Vila. Alternatively, reach Australia with airlines such as Qantas, Emirates or Singapore Airlines, then continue with Qantas, Virgin Australia or Fiji Airways. Routes via Auckland with Air New Zealand, or via Nouméa with Aircalin, also work.
